Catalina Niño grew up in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied in France where she received her BA and MA in Arts Plastiques and then relocated to the Bay Area where she received her MFA from San Francisco State University in Set Design. She recently moved to Chicago where she made her debut with Refracted Theatre Co. designing the set for the premier of St. Sebastian at The Den Theater. Recent design credits include: Dear Elizabeth, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Chicago, IL; 2024 Go To New Play Festival, Go To Productions, Chicago, IL; The Mousetrap, Citadel Theater Co.; Seussical The Musical & Es una vida Maravillosa, Shakespeare Napa Valley and Water By The Spoonful at The San Francisco Playhouse. Her work has also been featured at: The Berkeley Playhouse, Los Altos Stage Co., San José Children’s Musical Theater, and Custom Made Theater Co., among others.

Apart from doing theater, Catalina loves to explore cities and nature. She loves to keep her hands busy, sewing, painting and glueing things together. She’s also a proud mother of two young boys that keep her busy and constantly learning new things.
